How to Drug Proof Your Kids

"Are you aware that there is a drug and alcohol abuse problem among young people in Flackwell Heath?

Younger and younger children are coming into contact with drugs and alcohol - some as young as 9 years old. Peer pressure is very strong and our children need to know the dangers of drugs and alcohol, etc. and have the confidence to say 'No'. They need their parents support to be able to do this. Children do not generally know the dangers they face. The circumstances that a child lives in does not make a difference as to whether they will take drugs or not. What does make a difference is the knowledge that a parent has about the drugs that are available and the dangers of taking particular drugs, including alcohol and solvent abuse, etc. Parents can also equip themselves with the skills to help children make positive choices that will steer them away from drugs.

Leonie Cowlard facilitates the 'How to Drug Proof Your Kids' course. Details and booking forms for the next course are available from the Church Office. Places are usually limited so early booking is advisable. Courses run on six consecutive Monday evenings and the cost for the whole course is £15 for an individual or £20 per couple which includes the course manual and tea/coffee. If money is a problem, please let us know as we can offer a couple of free places. If you'd like more information please contact Leonie on families@ccfh.org.uk or mob: 07957 389014.
